La Storia d'Amore Refosco IGP Veneto
«A real fun wine, perfect for the terrace. It also pairs very well with any chocolate dessert.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
“The Story of Love” is the motto Piccolomini has chosen for its newest product line, presenting wines from the homeland of the world's most famous pair of lovers – Romeo & Juliet, right in the heart of the Veneto, in the northern Italian city of Verona.
Refosco is one of the oldest Italian grape varieties and was already mentioned in 1409 at a banquet held in honour of Pope Gregory VII. Genetically, Refosco is a descendant of Marzemino and is therefore also related to Corvina Veronese and Rondinella.
Characteristics
In the glass, the Refosco shows a beautiful ruby red colour. Very fruit-forward on the palate, with a wonderfully appealing aromatic profile dominated by sour cherry, a touch of plum and spicy notes of black pepper. The sweetness is elegantly integrated.
Serving suggestion
A real fun wine, perfect for the terrace. It also pairs very well with any chocolate dessert.
