Bleu 7 IGP Atlantique
«A versatile food companion to grilled meat, beef steak, lamb dishes or hearty pasta dishes. It also harmonises well with piquant cheeses and Mediterranean food. Enjoyed on its own, too, it unfolds its aromatic fullness especially impressively.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
This characterful red wine from the IGP Atlantique comes from south-western France, within the Atlantic's sphere of influence around Bordeaux. The region allows winemakers more freedom than the classic Bordeaux appellations and stands for modern, fruit-forward, approachable wines with a maritime-inflected elegance. The blend of 80% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc combines power, fullness and harmony. Merlot brings a soft structure and ripe fruit aromas of plum and cherry. Cabernet Sauvignon lends the wine depth, structure and spicy nuances of dark berries, while Cabernet Franc contributes freshness, elegance and fine aromatic notes of red fruit and herbs. The result is an expressive, extract-rich wine with plenty of fruit, balance and remarkable density – inspired by the idea of great, powerful red wines with intense aromatics and a long, harmonious finish.
The name Bleu 7 combines two powerful symbols. Blue is perceived as standing for depth, calm and harmony. The number 7 has been regarded since antiquity as the number of completeness and harmony, and plays a special role in mythology, religion and culture. The French avant-garde artist Yves Klein also dedicated his work to the power of this colour. With his intense ultramarine blue – the famous International Klein Blue – he created works of extraordinary radiance. Remarkably, his artistic output lasted only about seven years, yet it left a lasting mark on modern art.
Characteristics
In the glass, Bleu 7 presents itself with a deep, dark ruby red. On the nose, a multi-layered interplay of aromas unfolds – dark berries, ripe plums and cherries, accompanied by fine spicy notes and a hint of herbs. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and harmonious, with velvety tannins, a balanced structure and a powerful, fruit-forward fullness. The finish is long, soft and expressive – a modern red wine with depth and balance.
