Rubicone Bianco IGP Emilia Romagna
«An ideal companion to light dishes such as fresh salads, seafood or pasta with vegetables. It is also excellent as an aperitif.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
Romagna is not only the region most associated with pleasure – think of towns like Rimini, Riccione or Cattolica – but also a centre of the dolce vita. The Rubicone is a historic river that flows through a large part of Romagna and empties into the Adriatic near Ravenna. The Rubicone became famous through the Roman civil war: when the Roman Senate decreed that Caesar must disband his army, he crossed the Rubicon on 10 January 49 BC instead – tantamount to a declaration of war. His famous words: “alea iacta est” – “the die is cast”.
Characteristics
This Trebbiano from Emilia Romagna presents itself in a clear, straw-yellow colour with light green reflections. On the nose, an inviting bouquet unfolds, dominated by fresh citrus fruits such as lime and grapefruit, complemented by subtle aromas of green apple and pear. On the palate it is lively and refreshing, with crisp acidity and a fine, saline minerality.
