Marselan IGP Pays d'Oc
«Pairs well with meat dishes, and is excellent with a cheese board or cold cuts.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
Discover the unique Marselan grape! The vines are surrounded by wild garrigue landscape that exudes a true potpourri of scents: wild thyme, rosemary, lavender and juniper. The red grapes are made into wine through a very long maceration, which gives this fruity wine its deep colour.
Marselan is a new crossing between the varieties Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache Noir. The crossing was made in 1961 by the French ampelographer Paul Truel. The breeding goal was to combine the finesse of a Cabernet Sauvignon with the heat resistance of a Grenache. The variety has very small berries, which results in a low yield.
Characteristics
A harmonious wine with an intense cherry-red colour, a subtle sweetness, soft and smooth with great balance and length of flavour. On the nose: intense aromas of red fruit, cherry and black cherry. On the palate, also chocolatey notes of nougat.
Serving suggestion
Pairs well with meat dishes, and is excellent with a cheese board or cold cuts.
