La Benita Monastrell Vino d'Espana
«Enjoy this sweet red wine with piquant cheeses, or in the classic style with Stilton (instead of Port). Of course, it also cuts a fine figure on its own.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
“La Benita” – the blessed one, and at the same time the big sister of our popular El Benito. After Benedetto Valsangiacomo emigrated from Ticino to Alicante in 1913, the winery kept expanding further into the warm regions of Spain. Vineyards were also acquired in the Jumilla area. Wines from Jumilla have for years been among the most popular Spanish wines in our range.
It is pressed from 100% Monastrell grapes. The Monastrell grape is one of the classics of Spain's warm winegrowing regions such as Jumilla, Alicante and Yecla. In France it is also known by the name Mourvèdre.
Characteristics
In the glass it shimmers blackish-red with strong violet reflections. Aromas of dark berries, herbs and hay are gently accompanied by nuances of nutmeg. The tannins are smooth and enveloped in a pronounced, characteristic sweetness.
Serving suggestion
Enjoy this sweet red wine with piquant cheeses, or in the classic style with Stilton (instead of Port). Of course, it also cuts a fine figure on its own.
