Cabernet Sauvignon medium dry Western Cape - South Africa
«The ideal companion to hearty meat dishes such as goulash, chilli, spicy meatballs, but it's also a delight with coq au vin – especially if you already use it for cooking.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
The town of Robertson, founded in 1853, lies in the Western Cape region at the heart of the Wine Route, at an altitude of around 200 metres above sea level. The soil in the valley is sandy, while the gravelly soil at higher altitudes keeps the average temperature constant at around 22°C. The Mediterranean climate is perfectly suited to spicy, aromatic wines such as this Cabernet Sauvignon.
Cabernet is becoming increasingly important worldwide. In terms of status and popularity, it is regarded as the red counterpart to Chardonnay. Its dark, thick-skinned berries produce dark, flavourful wines. Aromas of blackcurrant are typical.
Characteristics
This South African wine presents itself in the glass in a brick-red hue. On the nose, it shows fine fruitiness with a scent of blackcurrant. In the background, refined aromas of bell pepper and black pepper. On the palate, the fruity aromas dominate at first, with spicy notes and silky-fine tannins only emerging in the finish. Its elegant, harmonious sweetness makes it a likeable all-rounder!
