Barolo El Pì Bon DOCG Barolo Monforte d'Alba
«This wine pairs perfectly with hearty meat dishes, porcini mushrooms, truffle or spicy hard cheese.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
“Nunc est bibendum!” – “Now let us drink!” Among connoisseurs, Barolo ranks alongside Amarone and Brunello as one of Italy's finest red wines. As early as the 19th century, Barolo was regarded as the wine of kings, and today it is still considered a wine for special occasions, immodestly known as the “king of wines”. Barolo originates from the Langhe hills in Piedmont, and the town of Barolo gave it its name.
Unlike many other great red wines, Barolo is not a blend but made 100% from the Nebbiolo grape. Our “El Pì Bon”, Piedmontese for “the best in flavour”, matures for 24 months in French oak barriques, producing a striking concentration of fruit aromas and a pronounced tannin structure.
Characteristics
In the glass it captivates with a deep red colour. The bouquet is elegant, with spicy notes of cinnamon and pepper alongside fruity aromas of cherries and blackberries. On the palate it is full-bodied with a powerful character, yet velvety soft in the finish.
Serving suggestion
This wine pairs perfectly with hearty meat dishes, porcini mushrooms, truffle or spicy hard cheese.
