Angelo DiVino DOCG Amarone della Valpolicella Riserva
«Tiziano Giuliari's favourite recipe to go with it: risotto all'Amarone della Valpolicella.»Serving suggestion, Pieroth catalogue
The Fratelli Giuliari winery was founded in 1960 by brothers Pietro Carlo and Tiziano Giuliari in Illasi, 15 km east of Verona, right in the heart of DOCG Valpolicella. The next generation has since taken over the running of the estate. The wines are true masterpieces and have accordingly won numerous awards and accolades.
The grapes for Angelo DiVino, a blend of 80% Corvina/Corvinone, 15% Rondinella and 5% Molinara, were harvested exclusively by hand – since damaged grape skins would prevent the “appassimento”, the drying process. The best grapes were laid out for around 100 days in small crates in a humidity-controlled drying room until they had lost about a third, sometimes even half, of their weight.
Characteristics
It first impresses with a rich ruby-red colour and a warm bouquet. A magnificent wine with a wonderful abundance of aromas – intense notes of cherry, redcurrant, chocolate and spice. Rich in substance, well structured, full-bodied yet soft, elegant and perfectly balanced.
